Apesar de não ser o maior de todos, o famoso Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance é o evento mais requintado e que reúne as mais belas raridades antigas sobre rodas no mundo. Ocorre todos os anos no mês de agosto na singela e rica Carmel, na costa oeste da Califórnia. Como parte do charmoso evento, anualmente são produzidos alguns cartazes para marcar a data. Os mesmos, sempre com ótima qualidade e bom gosto, são impressos e expostos à venda como souvenirs desse encontro de carros clássicos.
Um sonho adiado >> Em 1965, ainda como jovem designer recém saído do “Art Center College of Design”, Ken Eberts foi trabalhar na Ford Motor Company ajudando na concepção de carros como o Ford Econoline, o Falcon e o Galaxie, mas foi o Ford GT40 que Ken sempre sonhou ter desenhado. “Na época eu era um designer de apenas 21 anos de idade e, como todos os jovens profissionais dessa área, tinha anseio de projetar um carro esportivo; e a cereja do bolo daquele momento foi este Ford construído para desafiar a Ferrari nas 24 Horas de Le Mans”.
O sonho foi não cumprido, pois em 1968 Ken deixou Ford para se concentrar apenas em arte, fundando a prestigiada sociedade de belas artes automotiva, a AFA. Agora, quase cinco décadas depois, Ken finalmente teve sua chance de pintar esse famoso carro esporte, pois foi convidado por Sandra Button, presidente do encontro, para criar o cartaz do evento principal da edição 2016. A pintura que enfatizará o Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance deste ano apresenta três Ford GT-40 que terminaram as 24 Horas de Le Mans nos três primeiros lugares na histórica edição de 1966. “Mesmo que eu não tenha trabalhado na concepção desse ícone americano na Ford, estou honrado de ter feito esta pintura dos GT-40 vitoriosos”, ressaltou Eberts.
Elvis Presley no BMW 507 >> Barry Rowe, outro artista membro da AFA, criou o cartaz para o Pebble Beach Tour d’Elegance 2016, outro momento do evento que é patrocinado pela Rolex. A pintura do Tour mostra o BMW 507 guiado pelo eterno Rei do Rock & Roll, Elvis Presley. “Na minha adolescência, coletei folhetos desse carro e lembro-me do 507 com suas belas linhas desenhado no meu caderno. É incrível que agora pintei esse pôster do BMW 507 no Pebble Beach Tour!”, disse Rowe.
O imponente Delahaye >> Já o cartaz do Pebble Beach RetroAuto 2016 foi pintado pelo respeitado artista Tim Layzell, cujas criações já ganharam reconhecimento mundial. Este pôster apresenta o estilo elegante do Delahayes Chapron. “Pintei este cartaz sem nenhum sombreamento, para dar um acabamento bem limpo ao desenho. Esses Delahayes têm linhas tão bonitas e esquemas de cores deslumbrantes, que combinam bem com o meu estilo de pintura. Espero que eu tenha capturado a elegância dele!”, destacou Layzell. The dream was unfulfilled, because in 1968 Ken left Ford to focus only on art, and founded the prestigious automotive fine arts society, the AFA. Now, nearly five decades later, Ken finally got his chance to paint this famous sports car, because he was invited by Sandra Button, President of the meeting, to create the poster for the main event of the 2016 Edition. The painting that will emphasize the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance this year presents three Ford GT-40 who finished the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the first three places in the historic 1966 Edition. “Even though I haven’t worked in the design of this American icon at Ford, I am honored to have done this painting of GT-40 victorious,” said Eberts.
Elvis Presley in the BMW 507 >> Barry Rowe, another artist member of the AFA, created the poster for the Pebble Beach Tour d Elegance 2016, another moment of the event that is sponsored by Rolex. The painting of the Tour shows the BMW 507 guided by the Eternal King of Rock & Roll, Elvis Presley. “In my teenage years, I collected pamphlets of this car and I remember the 507 with its beautiful lines drawn in my notebook. It’s amazing now I painted this poster of the BMW 507 in the Pebble Beach Tour! “said Rowe.
The imposing Delahaye >> Already the Pebble Beach RetroAuto poster 2016 was painted by artist Tim Layzell, whose creations have won worldwide recognition. This poster features the elegant style of the Delahayes Chapron. “I painted this poster without any shading, to give a clean finish to your drawing.
